Acupuncture Treatment

Acupuncture treatment needles are much finer than those used for injections or blood tests in fact, they are not much thicker than a human hair. Rather than pain, you should experience a tingling effect or at most a dull ache momentarily when the needle has been inserted. It is common to experience a profound sense of relaxation during your treatment!

What to expect

Your initial consultation will take up to 1 1/2 hours, during which time a full medical history is taken and an assessment done of your issue, then an acupuncture treatment plan is discussed. Your 1st treatment is done within this time.

To get the full benefits of acupuncture, a course is recommended to suit you. Typically 4 to 6 treatments, one per week then tapered off according to your needs. Follow up appointments take 3/4 of an hour.

Taking any medication or receiving treatment from your Doctor?

It is important to bring a list of any medication and supplements you are taking. You may wish to consult your Doctor prior to starting acupuncture.

What to wear

You are advised to wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes. If you wear trousers, please make sure they are easily rolled up to just above the knee.
